Hello June! I can’t believe two months have already come and gone since her birth! So here it is… the girly makeover of her older brothers (hand-me-down) nursery. In actuality, that was the plan all along. Shortly after finding out we were expecting our first, I started planning the nursery (of course I did. It’s fine. Really). I wanted something gender neutral that could easily be changed for either gender — saving time, money, and stress. And you know what? Beatrix Potter paid off.
Staying with the more natural theme of our home, I knew I wanted to incorporate lived-in pieces mixed with feminine accents. A real tree branch adorned with flowers and sweet little birdies, coupled with the adjacent bird cage hung on an antique cloth’s rack helped set the vibe. The pink antique armoire was the perfect find and serves as additional storage (a girl’s shoe collection starts early, folks). For the changing table, I swapped out the wooden knobs for glass and added glass containers for holding necessities. It was an attempt to replicate a girly vintage vanity. And last but not least, there are a few sentimental items so she knows she’s loved and adored… The ballet slippers were mine I danced in. The note from her big brother upon her arrival home, that definitely deserved a frame. And his well-loved little “bun-bun” that he said she needed more than he did. If your baby’s sleep patterns seem inconsistent and unpredictable, you can check this sample schedule to help you establish healthy sleep habits.
Baby doll, we love you more than Peter Rabbit loves radishes! And that’s A LOT!
