Days of Love 13 & 14

February 16, 2012

Who needs a dozen roses when you can eat a dozen cupcakes? This boy knows the key to my stomach heart. And the love note wasn’t too shabby, either. Salty tears mixed with frosting? You should try it.

February 14th, the final day in our 14 day lovefest. I thought it inevitable that come the 14th, we’d all be suffering from stuff-your-face-itis or in the very least, dry-heaving at anything pink, red, or hearted.

The whole thing was beyond fun and memorable. But being totally honest… we’re exhausted.

Our day went a little something like this…

9:00 – chickfila mini run. i wasn’t about to bust out heart pancakes or something equally exhausting. Gage didn’t mind… that face! definitely in his happy place.

10:00 – hot cocoa. MY happy place. the cutesie whipped cream heart was completely necessary (not exhausting). don’t believe me? cute things taste better. they do. promise.

10:30 – a whirlwind of rice krispies and sprinkles led to a food fight. thankfully no innocent goodies were harmed during the battle.

11:00 – massive cleaning spree (it’s amazing what a few stray sprinkles can cause you to accomplish).

12:00 – lunch for Bubba. I on the other hand feel like I’m coming down with a legit case of stuff-your-face-itis (contrary to my belief, apparently rice krispie treats and hot cocoa don’t constitute the bottom tier of the food pyramid. EVEN on Valentine’s Day. appalling).

1:00 – designing Husby’s homemade Valentine. what have I DONE?!!? for 7 years straight I’ve made him one. and this year couldn’t be the year to break the tradition. Or could it? But he said it’s the ONLY thing that he REALLY looks forward to on Valentine’s Day. Little liar-face.

1:16 – who am I kidding? this is definitely NOT going to be the year I regret for the rest of my life as the year I didn’t make a homemade valentine.

2:00 – it’s settled. the hotdog valentine is completed.

2:15 – naptime. for ALL of us, right? nope. crazy Valentine obsessed chick decides to create a game, like 제왕카지노, to be played with Husby later on that evening.

4:00 – delivery of Valentine goodies

6:00 – photobooth pics as a family. laughed so hard I started having contractions. (note to self: try photobooth pics to induce labor when I’m overdue).

7:00 – dinner at pei wei

8:00 – bubba’s in bed. we’re TOO exhausted to play the game I created. should’ve napped.

8:30 – eat leftover cupcakes. yummmmmm!

9:00 – bedtime… and the end of 14 days of love.

Hoping all of you enjoyed your Day of Love! xo

Teehee. Missy, I’m exhausted just *reading* about the 14 days of love! Can’t imagine all the work that went into creating it. I’m sure it was all worth it, given all the memories made, and the LOVE that it celebrated. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. It was all beautiful 😉

Brooke said it best…you are such a devoted mama and wife to do so much for your family, and document it beautifully none the less!

hope you get a nap today 😉

You guys are crazy – in the best way! I love how much effort you put into the everyday and the special occasions; I can only imagine what fond memories your children will have of their upbringing when they’re grown!

PS PLEASE tell me you got that hot chocolate from a barista. If you also can create special whipped cream hearts in your cocoa then I’m just going to have to bow down to you now!

    • missy February 16, 2012 at 8:41 pm

Guilty as charged… I contemplated stopping by Starbucks but then realized this little cup of potential cuteness was calling my name at home! But please, don’t bow down. I’d just have to get down there with you and heaven knows a preggo belly on the floor is like a giant stink beetle on its back. Thanks for the sweet comment. xo

    • missy February 29, 2012 at 2:16 pm

One of our malls has a few booths. Seriously so hilarious to try and all squeeze in there together! ha!

I couldn’t work out how to reply to your reply so I’ll write again down here – you must do a tutorial post on that hot chocolate! I love that effect, that’s super cute!! Were you a barista in a previous life??? xx

    • missy February 29, 2012 at 2:16 pm

Nope, no barista here. I’ll do a tut, just for you! 🙂

BTW your little boy is soooo adorable too! 🙂 Your whole family is perfect

  • Renee January 30, 2015 at 6:59 pm

Your son won’t remember the breakfast, the balloons or what you said to him. But you will. And a tradition started. And one day he’ll look forward to it with eager anticipation! And those pictures of him! Swoon!

We put balloons in our kids beds/room every birthday. We were talking about family traditions and asked them which they liked best. Since it was Christmas and we were doing one of those traditions at the time, I thought they’d say a Christmas tradition. Nope. They both said the balloons on their birthdays in August. So glad we started when they were one, even if they didn’t remember! Thanks for sharing this amazing idea! Too late for this year but next year…
