Winter have your lips crackin’ like the Sahara? And lipstick just highlights those cracks! Ew!
All you’ll need is: 1 tsp of coconut oil, 1 tsp of raw honey, 1.5 – 2 TB of raw/granulated sugar mixed, and a dash of lemon juice. Don’t worry if you happen to taste it – it’s absolutely DELISH!
Mix these ingredients together to make a sugary paste. Use a soft bristle toothbrush or finger to dippy-dip into the scrub. Use soft circular motions across your lips. Rinse with water and apply your favorite lip balm afterwards for soft n’ silky lips. Now tell me those aren’t beggin’ to be kissed!
WHY THE CHOICE OF INGREDIENTS? {Here’s your sci lab lesson for the day…}
Coconut Oil = vit E & K, polyphenols are anti aging, & fatty acids that moisturize w/o breakouts
Raw Honey = natural antibacterial, amino acids that moisturize. Raw is better bc it hasn’t lost it’s healing properties.
Raw Sugar = produces glycolic acid/alpha hydroxy which exfoliates & stimulates collagen production – anti aging
Lemon Juice = vit C & citric acid brighten skin, scars, and exfoliates.
PSST!!! Use left overs for an entire facial scrub!
{sound the fire alarm!!!} WARNING: rub at your own risk – I don’t want to get blasted with DIY gone wrong photos bc you went scrub happy. Avoid sun exposure bc of the natural acids in the mask. Any leftovers should be stored in the fridge.
*this is an original recipe & photos – pls link back to this post if you use on your blog. thx sugar*
Do you have to it in the fridge after initial use? Could I keep it in a glass container?
you can keep it in a glass container i always do it
Sounds yummy and if it helps … yessss!
I am starting to get obsessed with scrubs. So one for the lips sounds just delightful. Thanks for the tips for the lips. 🙂
I just tried this on my horribly dry winter lips and it worked better than I could have ever imagined!! Thanks for the dry lip cure 🙂
Cannot wait to try this, my lips are so very dry !!
Repinned this post on Pinterest. lot of repins!!! I like the explanation of ingredients you give. Thanx for passing on
the knowledge.
Just tried this… it works great! And it tastes even beter 😉
Thanks a lot!
I just made this and used it in the shower. From this recipe I had enough scrub to do my lips, face, neck, upper chest, knees, elbows, feet, and hands! Talk about baby-soft skin!
I just tried this and it worked really well. I have chapped lips throughout the year so thank you so much for sharing.
i made some of this last night and it worked wonders…i can’t wait to try it on my face!
I honestly couldn’t wait to make this so I used what I have on hand; creamed honey, white sugar, canola oil and vanilla. My lips feel amazing! I can’t wait to try it with the actual ingredients! 🙂 thank you!
Can’t wait to try this
Where do you find coconut oil?
Any natural grocer or I’ve even seen it at Target & Walmart. You can also order this exact brand online through Amazon.
I just made this and tried it and it’s awesome! I’m making it as gifts for Christmas. If you triple the recipe it fills one of those cute little 4 oz. mason jars. Well done! I won’t be buying anymore facial scrubs. Thank you for this fabulous recipe!
Just made it! I added a couple of drops of Vanilla extract, AMAZING! It truly works
I have been using this on my sons check for his eczema. This cleared it up within days. Nothing else works. He doesn’t have any allergies towards these items. I know some babies do. Great stuff! Thanks.
how long will this last in fridge? or can it just be kept in glass container in the shower? or will it go bad 🙁
thanx 🙂
This is amazing!! It tastes awesome too! I substituted cocoanut oil for Olive oil though
I wanted to make this as gifts, but would it need to be refrigerated? Can it be left in a medicine cabinet? How would you store this? Or can’t it be stored because it would go bad? I appreciate your input on this. Sounds wonderful and living in the mountains, winter can be brutal on the lips. Can’t wait to make it, thanks!
I am going to try this today. If I have allergy with honey, is there any substitute for that which I should use?
You may want to use agave nectar as a substitute if you can’t use honey.
i was always under the impression that salt and sugar we’re to harsh for delicate facial skin. How often would you suggest using this and can you recommend a more gentle exfoliant for the face?
Maybe 1ce everyday I did and It really worked
Love it! It tastes so good!!
How often do you use this?
wow I love this post!
I’m going to have to use this on my blog!
(I’ll link this post at the end)

Does this need to be kept in the refrigerator?
Just made this and scrubbed my super chapped and peeling lips (yuck). They feel and look so much better than I would have imagined. I added a drop of lemon essential oil to the mix for some extra lemoniness, and it’s wonderful. Thanks for the great recipe!
Missy
Where do you find those cute little jars?
MM
Can anyone tell me if this lip scrub needs to be refrigerated? I want to have it at my sale next week but I don’t want it to spoil. PLEASE ADVISE, ASAP
This scrub is amazing. It works so well.
Just tried it. Couldn’t wait to stop nibbling off dry skin. The post fails to mention you should scrub for 1 minute or more
I’m going to try this as it has lemon in it which lightens scars! Hopefully it works well on the deep eczema scars that surround my lips.
Seriously though, I think I’ll end up getting diabetes before I get exfoliated lips, just because it tastes so good. I use it every morning and not only does it taste good, IT WORKS! Better than the $12 one I almost ordered ? It’s a must have!
Just made and tried this…its lovely and seems to of made a difference to my lips straight away! ?
First off, let me say this was DELICIOUS! I couldn’t stop licking my lips lol. But my lips feel baby soft now! And i had the ingredients in my pantry so no need to go out and spend money. Thanks for sharing!
Just tried this with my roommates.. LOVE.
Even in a glass or plastic container, should you still store in the fridge?
yes
Thank you very much for sharing your lip scrub recipe! I tried out your recipe this evening and it worked! Wow! I’m very impressed! xoxo!
I was at Sephora today and decided that instead of plunking down $28 for a small pot of lip scrub, I’d try to challenge it on my own.
My poor little dry, dehydrated lips! Pathetic. I whipped up your recipe here, and voila! Soft, smooth, hydrated little kissers!!! Thank you!
How many minutes does it stay on ur lips
You should rub it GENTLY into your skin for about a minute and then wash it off
The only sugar I had was brown sugar, and it worked wonderfully! I’ve been seriously struggling this winter with some fungus that formed around my lips (ew and e-gads!), but with this I have complete relief. Thank you!
Hi
I LOVE this recipe. It’s so simple as the ingredients are something everyone would have! It worked amazingly as well and tastes delicious like you mentioned – I couldn’t stop myself from licking it off. I love how you don’t need any flavouring extracts as the honey and lemon already provide that. I would definitely recommend trying this DIY and it’s so quick to make. It’s super cheap and is much better than buying a little pot of it at Lush for £5.00! I did a blog post on this too!
