Another one bites the dust. I’m referring to mwah. It was only a matter of time, what with the no sleep for 8 nights, and all.
This little concoction is giving our white blood cells the upper hand in this crazy sick house. It’s been a family favorite year round – even when healthy. Truth be told, I’ve even been known to make large batches, fill my mason jars full, and keep them stored in the freezer to always have on a minute’s notice.
The plain yogurt is a natural antibiotic. (And yes, it HAS to be plain + unsweetened because refined sugars actually feed bacteria and kill defender cells. Totally defeats the purpose. Literally. And we can’t have that now, can we).
The spinach? Contains antioxidants + tons of rich vitamins (tip: throw in a handful of organic kale for good measure – it’s #1 cancer fitting food). Oranges + Pineapple? That’s a given with all the vitamin c/d. And speaking of oranges, freshly squeezed is preferred – but 100% (not from concentrate) is the next best thing.
A few extra glasses of these and we’ll be back to better in no time. Fingers crossed.
And what’s almost as getting well again? My little guys LOVE it!
I’ve never bee none for smoothies, the texture of them creeps me out a little. However, we’ve been pretty sick this winter so this might be a good idea to try out for an extra boost of vitamins and to give our poor immune systems a bit of back-up!
I’ve been making smoothies similar to this since Christmas! My fiancé bought me a VitaMix and well if one could be in love with a blender, this is it! I hope you all feel better soon!
Those straws are adorable! Where’d ya find ’em?
Also, when you freeze in mason jars do you let them just thaw out on counter?
Husby prefers juicing vegetable juices (beets, tomato, celery, carrots, apples, oranges) to keep us healthy with our Breville. But I’m always partial to this yummy tasting smoothie that still gets us better! Guess there’s a balance… haha!
Straws? Embarrassing how much I shop at World Market! :/

I take a smoothie out the night before and leave it in the kitchen sink. It’s perfect come morning! Be sure to use the reusable plastic lids that Ball makes (I linked them in the Strawberry Jam post). Hope this helps!
We make smoothies like this almost everyday. May I suggest an avocado, Persian cucumber, and mango be added to the mix? You’ll thank me later. 😉
yuuuummmmm…
i’ll have to try this!
pinning is so i don’t forget 🙂
