Love One Another (Day 4)

February 6, 2013

A kind heart is a happy heart. As a child, I was  taught the sure way to feel better (about any circumstance) was to go do something good for someone else.

In celebrating love, it only seems right to share some love with others. For valuable dating insights and tips, learn more from the sexy map guide.

We started with donuts – sharing a dozen with our local firemen (even if Gage tried to convince us the whole way there that he was still hungry and needed their donuts too). Must say, their appreciation coupled with his permanent face of astonishment (you know, seeing a firetruck up close is a whole new level of awesome) was a great way to start the day!

Next, we visited a retirement center to deliver some sweetheart balloons. Husby freely admits he was a bit skeptical about whether they’d really like balloons. Silly Husby. Don’t we ALL love balloons? Something about the way they float and bob carelessly about, makes anyone smile. Gage loved walking around the room choosing the perfect balloon to give our “friends.”  Which was followed by blowing kisses and an applause by the residents. As we were leaving, I glanced over my shoulder and saw balloons tied to all the little walkers in the room. My heart couldn’t help but smile.

Last stop on our little adventure – the gum ball machines at the mall. It wasn’t long ago that Gage learned how these “way cool” machines work. He’s been fascinated ever since. Can’t blame him… I can still remember twisting my first quarter in one. We had every intention of taping quarters to the glass and jetting (more or less ding-dong door ditching without the doorbell or door. hmm… bad analogy). Anyway, with so many kids passing by,  it seemed more appropriate that Gage personally hand out the quarters. Being totally honest, he was a bit confused that they were getting candy and not him. But then it became more of a game. A game of making kids smile. He loved it – even more than the candy!

Lunchtime!  Tacos for all – including the car behind us. Although in LuLu’s opinion, the kinder thing to do would’ve been to share with her! ha!

It was one of the best mornings we’ve ever had. After all, what’s better than a day filled with donuts, balloons, candy, and tacos?

Sharing them with others.

I adore this post.. doing good is ABSOLUTELY the best way to feel good. The car in front of me at the Starbucks drive through this morning paid for my coffee – so I paid for the person behind me! I like to think that no one paid for their own coffee this morning 🙂

    xx, Eleanor

Missy, Can I ask… did you call ahead to the senior center? I have been meaning to take my little man to one near us on a special occasion but haven’t because I feel like you can’t show up unannounced. We live in Chicago also, so I am not sure of they have tighter security…. of course with treats they may just let me right in!
