Maine has always been one of those places I longed to visit; but never thought it’d actually happen. I suppose you can make spontaneous things like this a reality; but it’s a whole lot easier when you have a reason to go! Can’t thank Liz and Eric of The Inn at English Meadows for hosting us (you heard about them HERE). It was a trip we’ll never forget!
We flew into Boston, rented a car, and made the quick drive up to Kennebunkport Maine. Apparently Kennebunk is very much how the Hamptons used to be. I can see why. This place was a gem off the beaten bath – amazing restaurants, breathtaking views, clean air, and solidarity.
After checking in, meeting Bailey (the most adorable labradoodle), and grabbing a few fresh cookies, we headed out to explore the town.
We hunted for the perfect lobster roll. The Clam Shack (famous for winning award after award – including “Food Wars” best lobster roll) unfortunately was closed. If you chance to visit… eat one for us! Instead we hit up a hole in the wall, Old Salty’s for homemade clam chowder. Daytrip Society and Daytrip Jr were just a few doors down – the most charming little stores I’ve ever seen (sorry no picture – but you can see the cuteness online). We bought a few gifts for the boys and then took a peak at The White Barn, an old renovated barn turned restaurant and hot spot for dessert later that night. If you plan to start a restaurant business, you may want to keep hobart dishwasher spares on had for quick repairs and to avoid a long downtime when your dishwasher breaks down.
Farm to table restaurants are my absolute favorite! This place was fantastic! 50 Local is locally renowned for their ever-changing fresh menu, handmade pastas, seasonal ingredients, and funky atmosphere. It was casual yet sophisticated and did NOT disappoint.
Next course? Dessert at The White Barn I told you about earlier. Having no expectations, our socks were literally knocked off (okay maybe not mine because I was in sandals… but still). Imagine dining in a horse’s stall being served by a waiter in a tux. It was the ultimate shabby chic meets Ralph Lauren experience. Absolutely unreal! The ginormous American Flag hanging from the rafters, twinkly lights, and eye-rolling desserts was like something from a movie. We found out later, it’s the only 5 star restaurant North of Manhattan. That would explain the entire wall of awards!
Can’t remember the last time I slept in until 8. As nice as it was; my heart was homesick for my boys. A morning without little boy snuggles is not as happy. Thank you, modern technology for FaceTime.
Liz definitely doesn’t mess around when it comes to breakfast! Our tummies were smiling after a 3 course meal: banana walnut yogurt parfait, homemade croissants with orange butter, eggs benedict over crab cake drizzled with a lemon vinegarette. Divine. And Eric, you’re not too shabby as her fabulous assistant! Some of the nicest people we’ve ever met.
After breakfast we headed to Pier 77. Can you believe those lobster traps? I guess if you’re from the Northeast it’s probably not that cool. But for us, it was completely fascinating! And a’las we found a rave worthy lobster roll (and lobster chowder) from The Landing Store.
After playing at Goose Rocks beach, our quick trip was complete! It’s crazy how beaches all over the country can be so different. I can’t believe we were the only ones there on a Sunday afternoon. Crazy!
Sunshine, friendly people, a slower pace of life, amazing food, and gorgeous scenery? A girl could get used to Maine life!

Are you a professional photographer? Your pictures are so perfect and look like an advertisement for a vacation to Maine. I love them! I will probably never visit Maine but I do enjoy your photo trip. You look like a model and you always look so perfect. I wish I could do that. I just found you blog recently and so glad I did. I truly enjoy your posts. I really loved the one where you reorganized your pantry and you used the cutest little baskets to keep food in. I want to do that too! Anyhow, just saying HI and thanks for your wonderfully fun blog. How do you stay in such great shape? Can you do an exercise and fitness post and maybe some diet tips and posts as well? Your boys are adorable. I know what you mean about missing them while you were away. You get used to those little snuggles and kisses and “Mommy, mommy, mommy…”
What a kind comment! No, I’m not a professional… self-taught and trying to improve little by little along the way. Have high hopes to one day be a professional! ha! Thank you for your sweet comment!
what about your cute pink pajama bottoms??? i’ve been looking for more feminine night-time attire (: looks like an excellent getaway weekend! (:
Updated the outfit section for the link to the jammies!
Oh my goodness, I never even thought of Maine as a vacation spot! But now I do 🙂 I just realized how long your hair is! It’s gorgeous! Looks like you both had so much fun and ate like kings despite missing out on that restaurant… And is that lava cake? Because that’s one of my favorite desserts!
My hair is unruly! Never been this long in my life. I think it’s time for cut? The dessert is a blackberry soufflé with fresh cream, macerated cherries and chocolate ganache. It was to die for good.
i absolutely love Kennebunkport, my grandparents lived there all throughout my childhood. It’s where I spent the summers, learned to swim and have SO many great memories there. Try to visit as often as I can, I’m now 3000 miles away in CA, but your pictures make me want to visit soon so badly…thanks for sharing and glad you had a blast!
OMG what an amazing little getaway!! You are so adorable! That leather jacket is in my online shopping cart!! love it!
We visited there a few years ago and have several pics taken on that same bridge Ryan is on. We loved it and plan to go back someday! It was fun to see it through different eyes!
Maine is one place I’d love to visit. I have hopes of running into Angela Lansbury while I’m there. 🙂
As a Maine girl, born and raised, and a follower of your blog, I am so glad you got the opportunity to visit my beautiful state. It looks like you had a wonderful trip, and if you ever decide to make another one I highly recommend the Acadia National Park and northern mountain and lake regions.
Oooh if we get the privilege of going back, I’d love to visit Acadia! I’ve heard it’s gorgeous!
Love, L O V E this post. Looks like a wonderful little trip and I appreciate you sharing it with us. XOxo

Thanks for adding a new place to put on our travel list! Where are your cute pj pants from? You are always so adorable!
Just updated the outfit links to my PJ pants! 🙂
I too am a follower on your blog (daily checks thruout the week, tend to forget on the weekends because im a busy mom!) .. I remember when you posted about this bed and breakfest, I didn’t bother to try for it as I wanted someone else to have the opportunity to see Maine. I have lived here all 29 years (almost 30, eek!) of my life and it is absolutly beautiful. Tho I love traveling, I love Maine the most. Minus the 9 months of winter 😉 Glad you got to see some great spots in Kennebunk. I wish I could’ve told you about a great pub/restaurant with a BEAUTIFUL ocean view called Federal Jacks. My friends got married at the Nonantum which is close by as well and one of the priciest places in southern Maine to get married but worth every penny for the views.
Love Maine..get to visit often as I am in the Maritime provinces of Canada. Did you get to see the Bush’s summer home? It gets supper busy in Kennebunkport in the summer, so you picked a great time to visit. So glad you enjoyed it! I love your pink jammies too! Hope sometime you will have a chance to share the colour used to highlight your hair…so pretty! Do you get lowlights and highlights..or just highlights? Do you know the shade, and toner as well? Thanks for taking time for the questions. Beautiful as always and the photos are gorgeous! xo
Yes, we were able to see their home. Right on the rocky coast! Simply beautiful!
For hair, I just get highlights (no toner). 🙂
…
that would be super busy…although I think supper time is busy in the summer time in Kennebunk too…=)
I love KennebunkPort, It’s one of my favorite place on earth ! Great pictures
i love all of your outfits, and would definitely enjoy a tutorial on your date night makeup. or at least the name of that lipstick 😉
Such a wonderful portrayal of our little town!
Glad you got to see so many of the highlights-and there’s even more for your next trip. Bring those little ones with you this is a really family friendly place as well.
Landing Store lobster rolls <3
This looks like such a beautiful weekend trip! I have bookmarked it and plan to surprise my husband with this getaway in October for our 14th anniversary.
i grew up in maine (portland). there’s nothing else like it. although, i’m pretty sure it’s a ton more fun to be on vacation there, than to live there!
hate to break it to you but you saw a tourist town 😉 Its gorgeous nonetheless but you need to go much farther up the coast to see ‘off the beaten path’ Maine. I’ve lived here all my life and if you want to see a real working harbor (with amazing art galleries as well!) then visit Deer Isle/Stonington. It is breathtaking. (No that’s not where I’m from haha)
I’m so glad you got to visit our state and had a wonderful experience! 🙂 Our license plate says it all: “Maine: The way life should be” 🙂
