It hasn’t been all rainbow sprinkles since we’ve moved. In fact, I really miss the life that we were so accustomed to. Yes, moments where I have to bounce back and truthfully admit to myself, we aren’t going back. And not even to visit (anytime soon, that is) because frankly I’d cancel my return flight. So pessimistic this all sounds. But then there’s a day like today. The kind that give you a swift kick to the bumble — make it happen, sister. You’ve done it before. You can do it again. And this day (the whole week, actually) has been just that — life like we’re used to. I refuse to feel sorry for myself and am willfully choosing to give my best attempt to make each day happy. It’s amazing what a little loud music (and the accompanied dance party) or a pillow fight first thing in the morning can do for everyone! Following suit, a date was in order for Gage and I (it’s been too long since our last one). But in some ways, I think that’s what made it all the more special. I mean, like, I’m going to count it right up there as one of my top 10 best days. Ever.
Also, I had every intention of just sharing snippets from our little outing; but when I scrolled through the ice-cream shots, I started laughing and crying (because my heart just couldn’t contain all of the love for this kid). So to heck with it. I posted almost all of them. And of course, the rest of the date will be coming to another post near you.
Oh and one more reason to note — I HAD to document the first time he didn’t mind getting messy! Sticky cherry ice-cream dribbles and all! What?! Epic.
The last thing. Really, I promise. This is just something I want to make sure I remember … After we were finished, he asked if I had any napkins leftover so that he could wipe his chair, “I don’t want someone else to get their pants messy, Mama.” That little boy of mine has one tender little heart. And the most adorable smile to go with it.
Missy his hair looks amazing – SO stylish!
What a handsome young boy 🙂
Lots of love from South Africa xx
I can’t get over his cuteness!! That face should be able to turn any day around…and ice cream, of course. 🙂
My littles always seems to be a source of inspiration when there doesn’t seem to be much to smile about. What a blessing they are in our lives! Don’t worry, one day you’ll thank God for the move. Love you!
Aww, that is just too precious!
So happy you’re finding your place in your new home. I know it’s hard to pick up and leave a home you’ve loved for so long, I’ve don’t it three times in my life and none of the times have been easy, and none of these times involved children or a family home. Just take it day by day – and remember you’ve got so much to discover in this new place, it will most likely grow on you before you know it. It won’t replace your old home, just be a fun new adventure to put in the archives next to the old home 🙂 PS Gage is adorable, and so polite, well done momma!
Oh my gosh, he is just the cutest little thing!!
xo Ash,
Sincerely Miss Ash
Just adorable pictures!! Glad you shared so many!!! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your date 🙂

This is absolutely adorable! I’ve had a serious cause of the blahs lately, and I love the reminder to make every day happy, may have to keep repeating that one over and over til I make it out of this silly funk. 😉
my mom used to say “day at a time” and I would roll my all-too-smart-for-that eyes at it! now it seems that advice so timely.. we have moved. far. I love my house! I am happy we are under the same roof (husband had been working away for two years, now we have joined him. Son graduated from highschool and now has registered for college. Oh and there was a car accident with fine son the week we moved. But we are here! and we are well and that is enough for me! And yes, some days it is laser sharp focus to remember what is to be!! and that is HAPPY! good luck and joy in the journey!!
xo hang in there! This is absolutely precious!

I wish you, Ryan and the boys the best with the move. Stay strong in your faith and know God will take care of you. Praying for you:)
[…] After the park, we headed for ice-cream (or something – wink wink). I’ll admit, we sampled an embarrassing amount of flavors before deciding on sour cherry and malted chocolate. For me, watching him laugh over his dripping cone, was the highlight of our date. More pictures of him, HERE. […]
Hey Missy! What product do you use in Gage’s hair? My little munchkin’s hair style is basically the same and I’ve been using gel, but I can’t his hair to stay styled like this. SO cute!
Your boys are so cute! I have a 33 month old and I love mother-son dates! 🙂 oh and my little Landon has the exact same moccasins.
[…] I found myself tearing up and cherishing the simple captures — Beckam playing in the bedsheets or Gage with his drippy ice-cream cone. I resolved to keep my camera closer to capture more of the little everyday happenstances. […]
