Teddy Bear Toast

September 23, 2013

It’s back to reality after being away visiting family for a month! A WHOLE month… whoa. To be perfectly honest, I could’ve stayed through Halloween. But then again, I might forget how to cook and clean and everything else, altogether.

Coming home needs a pick-me-up and these cute little teddy bear toasts were just what we needed. They’re also perfect for Monday mornings to motivate your little (and bigger) ones to go back to school with a smile.

Directions:

  • 1.  Start by toasting bread.
  • 2.  Spread creamy almond or peanut butter (my favorite brand is MaraNatha).
  • 3.  Trim off crust in a circular pattern for the bear’s face.
  • 4.  Drizzle honey, if you like your bear extra sweet and blend with a knife.
  • 5.  Allow children to add the bear’s facial features using: sliced bananas, raisins, blueberries, or even a combination of chocolate chips, dried cranberries or nuts.

The best part was the eruption of giggles that followed after eating Teddy’s face, ‘Oh no! You ate my nose! Now I can’t smell. Don’t eat my eyes! How will I see?’ He thought it was all quite hilarious.

Wow you have B drinking milk out of a cup with a straw? How did you get him to do that? I am trying to figure out how to wean the sippy cups…

    • missy September 23, 2013 at 2:56 pm

He started using a straw around 6 months (just cut it to only a few inches long so he didn’t have to wait long to get the drink). Eventually you don’t have to cut the straw anymore. Older siblings and watching mom and dad do drink from a cup with a straw, makes for motivation to use the real thing!

super cute! Will have to try. Quick question……is that a tablecloth or dish towels? I love them! Where are they from? Thanks dear!

They’re dish towels. I hoard them like a disease. They’re from IKEA (always extra big and wash nicely)

wow that’s great!! mine will drink anything with a straw but milk.. he wants his sippy cup. Any suggestion on how to wean the sippy cup? Does B still use a sippy cup for night time milk?

So cute! Have to try this. Does your little one still use a high chair? My son is 17 months and is starting really complain about being in the high chair. I’m thinking it’s time to let him either sit in a booster or buy him a tiny chair and table, but he squirms so much I’m afraid he’ll never sit still to eat!

    thanks 🙂

You take awesome photos. Could you please do a brief blog on the techniques that you use?
