Well Rested

February 28, 2013

Wrinkle wrinkle little star… how I want to keep you afar. Oh wait. Those AREN’T the lyrics? Could have fooled me. I’ve been known to say crazier things when I’m running on little sleep. And let’s just hope I get more Zzz’s – so that lullaby stays a lullaby and not a nightmare.

Without further adieu…

And with a disclaimer, that this will likely be the only time I advice you to fake anything (with the exception of lashes, every now and again).

Hi there, I’ve been following your blog for quite some time now and I really love it. I also have a one and half year old son and I’m trying for the second one now and you have trully been an inspiration for me. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll be able to deal with 2 kids, my full time work, my blog and a personal business of mine… but then I come here and I honestly feel motivated by you.

This post you made has captivated my attention because I have exactly the same kind of wrinckles that you do around my mouth and because being so thin doesn’t really help, sometimes I feel really bad about them. And then I see your picture and I think “WOW… she has those wrinckles and yet she is absolutely beatifull even more than most 20 year old young ladies”… so, THANK YOU for letting me know that a wrinckle from smiling isn’t a bad thing and that they can still be preety on a beautiful face such as yours.

Keep your amazing post, for they really inspire people around the world (I’m Portuguese) 🙂

  • Michelle February 28, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Hello from Canada! I am a new fan. I found you by accident and just love everything you do. Great tutorial today, it couldn’t have come at a better time. I woke up this morning looking like I hadn’t slept at all. You guys are just so darn cute!!!

  • kayla February 28, 2013 at 2:14 pm

Which Dr.Jart’s BB cream to you like best? Thanks for the tips, i have a 2 year old and an 8 week old so I can use all the help i can get 🙂

    • missy February 28, 2013 at 2:16 pm

It’s Dr. Jart’s “water fuse” (in the blue bottle)… you’ll LOVE!

  • Keller February 28, 2013 at 2:23 pm

I LOVED this tutorial!!! And I have to agree about Dr. Jart, I have used a couple different bb creams and Jart is my favorite. Thank you for doing this and letting us see sweet baby Beck!

  • kayla February 28, 2013 at 2:36 pm

Thanks! Do you use it as a moisturizer or in additon to?

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:47 pm

I use a moisturizer underneath the BB cream bc my skin is really dry. But for most people, the BB cream kicks out that step too!

  • Ashley February 28, 2013 at 2:44 pm

How is your hair cut? Long layers? It’s beautiful!

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:49 pm

It’s BEGGING to be cut (or a least trimmed). Can’t remember the last time that happened. Yes, it’s styled with long layers (long layers in the back and more varied lengths around the frame of my face).

  • KatieRose February 28, 2013 at 2:57 pm

Wonderful tutorial, thank you for sharing. This is going to come in handy. I ordered a bunch of the recommended product from your 5 minute makeup and LOVE the Dr. Jart and the eye pencil. I recommend it to everyone now. Thanks for all your advice!!

    Your son is so cute!

  • Robyn February 28, 2013 at 3:03 pm

So cute! I’ve had a couple rough nights with my teething little guy, so I’m going to go bust out my makeup and give this a shot!

    p.s. little man is adorable!!

  • Lindsey Westfield February 28, 2013 at 3:41 pm

  • Jesika February 28, 2013 at 4:07 pm

    Great tutorial.

And I watched with my 8 year old daughter in the room, she liked the baby parts best. And she noticed Cheerio on babes bottom! love it.

Just when I thought your blog couldn’t get any better you do a makeup post with all my favorite makeup! You’re just awesome (:

  • Alicia February 28, 2013 at 5:54 pm

Loved this! I have a silly question though…I started using the makeup forever eyeshadow crayon after your 5 minute makeup tutorial and love it but not sure if I can sharpen it with a regular eyeliner sharpener…
    Thanks!

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:50 pm

not a silly question… i thought the same thing! but yes, they sharpen VERY nicely using a wide sharpener (make up forever sells those as well).

  • Brigette February 28, 2013 at 6:04 pm

Thank you for this. As a mom I hardly get enough rest and I’ve noticed it in my appearance! Thanks for sharing your little boy he is adorable! May I add what a good baby he didn’t cry the whole time!

  • tammy February 28, 2013 at 8:35 pm

  • Maggie March 1, 2013 at 12:09 am

I’m so happy to see that Beckam is still a baby and not a dinosaur, I was getting kind of worried there for a second!

  • Megan March 1, 2013 at 12:26 am

Love your tutorials and your blog! The Make-Up Forever aqua eye pencil is my absolute favorite! I’ve tried the Mabelline BB cream and did not like it at all…made my face so greasy. Stay fabulous!!!

  • Beth March 1, 2013 at 12:58 am

I love this, even though I have just now collected all of the 5 minute make-up supplies. I shall add in some of these, especially the concealer tips. I love the baby shot, he is gorgeous!
What shade would you describe the urban decay lucky? It looks orange! Does it act like a brightener?

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:51 pm

It’s a copper color that works for any eye color. It’s not too dark, not too bright… just makes any eye pop! You’ll LOVE it!

  • Sara March 1, 2013 at 3:19 am

What nail polish are you wearing?

thank you and I love this tutorial!!

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:52 pm

“pink smoothie” and “june bride” by Gelish

  • Amber March 1, 2013 at 3:44 am

Oh my gosh!!! I want to squeeze your lil cutie pie! You made me smile! Babies are sooooo precious! Love the tutorial too! I have 2 questions! First where did you get your perfect white tee and second….would you ever consider doing a post on closet organization, as in your closet full of clothes! Do you color coordinate your clothing? Do you purge every year? My closet is always getting out of hand, and half the time I don’t even know what I have! What’s your tips and secrets! Thanks pretty girl! Xo amber

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:53 pm

T is a boyfriend T from Target (last year… hoping they come out with them again this year). Closet organization is hilarious over here. Our closets are small so I’m taking over the whole house! But yes, I purge at the end of each season. 🙂

  • Jessica March 1, 2013 at 4:31 am

Great tutorial! I always enjoy seeing how new products work and look forward to adding to my some of them to my daily routine. Thank you!

  • Lilly March 1, 2013 at 3:39 pm

This was really helpful.. & cheerio on the “lil Bum” put a smile on my face!!
sheesh Do u ever have bad skin or hair days?!! Ive never seen u with messy hair or breakouts can u please spill your updated skin care?
Thanks for all the helpful tid bits:)

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:54 pm

Oh Lilly, how you’ve made my day! Unfortunately yes, I have bad beauty days… just like everyone else on the planet. I’ve been playing around with my skin regimen. Right now I’m using up AnnMarie Gianni (past sponsor) line. Really like it! 🙂

  • Taren March 1, 2013 at 4:02 pm

I have a question, little miss 😉 I recently tried a BB cream and it just would NOT rub in. I had little patches of make up on my skin about 2 hours after I put it on. Is BB skin something that’s not ideal for oily skin and large pores? Thanks for any light you can shed!

    PS-baby is too precious!

  • Masha March 1, 2013 at 4:51 pm

HI! I just discovered your blog and LOVE love love it! I watched your video yesterday and rushed to Sephora to pick up some of these fab products – so fun. Thank you for sharing! I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing your night time routine. Mainly, I’m in search of a good night cream… any ideas? Thanks!!

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:58 pm

I’m dying to try La Mer but have used Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery as well as Body Shop’s Nutriganic Smoothing Night Cream (liked both). Hope this helps

  • Anna @ Your Healthy Place March 1, 2013 at 5:42 pm

Thanks for the tips on applying cheek stain – to be honest I’ve never really known how to do that so have stayed away from it for fear of looking clownish, but the layering tip is a great idea!

  • Kierstyn March 1, 2013 at 7:26 pm

Oh my gosh! I love this tutorial! It is the best no makeup makeup one yet! I did this right after I watched the video and got so many compliments! Thanks you so much!

  • Taylor March 1, 2013 at 8:06 pm

Hi! I’m a college student and pull all nighters all the time! Thanks for this great look! I have really dark circles and was wondering if you have any other tips for dark circles and I have chapped lips so wondering if you have a Chapstick you like? Thanks for your help!

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 3:59 pm

I can’t live without my Burt’s Bees chapstick (have one in every purse). As far as darker circles I don’t have much advice other than soothing treatments (tea bags, cucumbers, cold compresses).

    Thanks love.

  • linsey March 4, 2013 at 8:20 am

Hi! I love your tutorials! thanks for all the amazing info!! But i had a question.. do you have any drug store/cheaper versions of the make up forever shadow pen and uplight? I wish i could spend $29 on that.. but its unrealistic for my tiny make up budget.. any suggestions? Thank yoU!! hope u had a great bday!!

    • missy March 5, 2013 at 4:01 pm

I haven’t tried dups for either but will certainly let you know if I find any that I try and like.

  • Kathleen Carl March 6, 2013 at 5:53 pm

Just stumbled upon your blog and LOVE IT! Great tutorial, love the “well rested” products and am heading out to Ulta this morning on my snow day to pick up some of the products.

  • Candace March 7, 2013 at 2:16 am

    missy-
love the nail polish you recommended on a previous post, Orly’s pure porcelain, but I can’t get it to last more than a day! Do you use a top coat or do you have a secret?! I love the color, but wish it lasted longer! Love your blog! You’re hilarious, I’m always laughing along with your tutorials. 🙂 Thanks for sharing all your tips w/ us!

    • missy March 12, 2013 at 3:02 am

Yes, I use base and top coat. I wonder if it’s old?! I haven’t seem to have that problem with mine. You’re too cute, Candace!

  • Amy March 11, 2013 at 12:37 am

tried the bareminerals and am in love. any tips on storing brushes / make-up? 🙂

  • Sadie beckman March 13, 2013 at 6:32 pm

Loved this post! Went out and bought the BB cream, I had heard of it but haven’t tried it until now! IT’S so great! Should have tried it sooner. Thanks for being real and true in your video, being a SAHM is tough, thanks for your encouragement, and sharing your little bundle of joy!

  • Claudia March 15, 2013 at 8:29 pm

this was a super helpful tutorial! I have started using both the BB cream and the Lumi stick, what a difference and great boost! Thanks much!

  • Taylor March 25, 2013 at 12:31 am

I recently found this site from pinterest! I came get enough and found alot of great products on a tight budget from here. Very natural and light…thanks!!

  • Jaclyn March 30, 2013 at 8:28 am

I <3 your tutorial. Really inspires me as I always thought it'd take ages to look the way you do, but this was 10 mins, and the fab in 5 was 5 mins! Just wondering, how long does your makeup last?whole day? Maybe you can have a tutorial on touch ups because mine lasts only half a day 🙂

  • Stephanie May 14, 2013 at 10:29 am

I just tried to order lucky but urban decay is no longer making it. I know I can order it from urban decays website while they still have them, but I was hoping to just place a big sephora order with all your new recommendations. Any thoughts on what new urban decay eyeliner looks like lucky? Thanks!

  • Lara Williams June 8, 2013 at 5:59 am

I love your blog and watching all of your tutorials. This is a random question, but I am a blonde as well (not natural), but I get it partially foiled at least every 5 weeks because it is so light. My question is: Do you get your hair foiled or do you do it yourself? I would love any tips from a blonde to a blonde 🙂 If I could do it myself, I would, but am too scared I’ll ruin it! Thank you!

  • Melissa September 6, 2013 at 7:16 pm

Love your tutorials!! I was sooooo excited to see the UD Lucky eyeliner on sale for $6 each on their website!! Can’t wait to try it 🙂

  • chantel December 5, 2013 at 9:34 pm

I would really like to purchase all the products you used, but unfortunately the lucky pencil is unavailable on Sephora and their own web site. ): its hard to find something similar, because I have never used the product and not sure what would be similar, the 30e is also out of stock not sure if you have and products dups you know of?
