Four years ago seems more like two. I can still remember the night before you were born. Squirming and kicking about — you were beyond anxious! So was I! With a prayer in my heart, I tried to calm you… calm us — offering reassurance that we’d go through all of it together. From that time since, that’s exactly how we’ve done it. And regardless of the years past or those yet to come, somehow time is irrelevant; because your heart and mine have always been friends.
The way you say: helicopter (helicocker), popsicles (pocksiples), watermelon (wamermelon), yogurt (o-gurt). Your little sayings: actually (ack-she) guys, not this day, I need a love, we have to do that thing what I said mama, why you do that (dat)? How you hide things for safe-keeping in the most difficult of spots and then forget where you’ve hidden them. As a result, you’ve decided it’s ok to share with me your secret places (once hidden), so that I can remember for you! ha! Your boxcar feet that have kept you a baby. How you throw your head back when you really laugh. Sweet over savory, any day (with the exception of pizza). Your strong will and creative negotiating skills. Your love for babies — the human and the furry kind. Your face lights up and your hands clench in restraint, at the sight of something so sweet and little! How you love to be outdoors. You’re happiest in nature and being cuddled in my arms. The little vein in your neck and the angel kiss on your leg (which you call a pig… haha). Purple is your favorite. By you, underwear is an optional rule. How gum chewing is a necessary car riding practice. How you fall asleep hugging your bun-bun and wake up in the very same embrace. Accessories are your thing: hats, shoes, and sunglasses. That you prefer dark over milk chocolate. Your unparalleled confidence when you’re with us; and you’re reserved demeanor around those you know less. It shows you’re partial to loyal love with a select few rather than casual love with many. Your hair that glows and perfectly gapped adorable little teeth. Your humor and how you tease. Your many many faces and how you love to take pictures. How you tip toe into our bed and wake with a larger-than-life smile. How you hold my face in your hands. The way you respect your brother and adore your sweet sister. That sweet sweet sweet little voice, that’s only yours. It can’t be beat and neither can all that makes you, you! Happy Birthday, B-man!
Absolutely precious. Happy Birthday!
Can not believe he’s 4 already! So cute!
He is so precious!
Happy Birthday! We had a Mickey party the day before yours with our newly-turned-6 year-old, complete with those exact same balloons. 🙂 Love it!
Thanks for sharing and reminding us all to hug the little ones in our lives and cherish their sweetness as they grow!
