Recently I partnered with Nordstrom and THIS local magazine to feature Fall’s favorite trends. Each day this week will feature a different runway trend “turned down a notch” to make it wearable in everyday life.
So without further adieu, the first trend… Shakespeare in Love.
It’s a mix between playing dress-up in Grandma’s closet with old World Shakespeare. Kinda takes playing dress up to a whole new level. Elements of lace, real furs, double-layered coats (many resembling tapestries), muted pastels and florals – all mixed together – creates ladylike loveliness fit for high noon tea. Consider shopping your local antique store for vintage jeweled necklaces, broaches, and carpet bags paired with deep reds. It’s said that “Oxblood” red (sounds garishly gory, no?) will be one of this season’s swankiest colors. If a deep red pant is too bold, try it on your nails in Essie’s “Wrapped in Rubies”.
