Disneyland – the happiest place on Earth… or scariest if you’re Beckam and have never seen a nose or teeth that big in your life!
We stayed all day… making sure to hit dumbo and the teacups twice. I didn’t get the heart cup the first go around, friends. And we couldn’t leave without riding in the cutest cup at the party!
Thankfully the boys slept in the next morning. Guess that’s what a 5 hour plane ride immediately followed by a day at Disney will do to a guy! Time to hit up King’s Road Cafe for breakfast (thanks for the recommendation, you guys).
They woke up starving… like as in, Gage ate all 3 of those blueberry oatmeal pancakes. Himself. No, for reals.
Beautiful Rodeo Drive followed by the Hollywood Walk of Fame… makes for the best game of connect the dots (or stars) a little guy could wish for!
Missing LuLu called for souvenirs from the Beverly Hills Mutt club. I’ll have to show you the cutest little doggy necklace I brought back for her. It’s fancy enough to induce strutting around the block.
A night at Jose Eber (seen HERE) – the reason we were able to go on this fun little California adventure!
A stop at a local hot spot, Diddy Riese cookies for the most delicious way to ever spend a $1.75! Still wishing they offered shipping across the country! I see an upcoming “knock-off” endeavor in the near future.
Afterwards, we headed to Malibu for exploring, shopping, amazing fresh food (Duke’s), and bummin’ it on the beach. I kept my eyes out for Matthew Mcconaughey but to no avail.
Later that night we hit up Santa Monica Pier for a ride on the iconic ferris wheel. Neither Husby nor I have ever ridden one, making it all the more special to share the experience together. Beck’s little button nose was freezing and Gage wasn’t quite sure being that high off of the ground was a safe thing.
Pillow fights every morning because “jumping on the bed” rules don’t apply when you’re on vacation, silly. After sleeping as a family in a King bed, we’re convinced every family with babies needs one. Husby, clearly we need a bigger house so we can get a bigger bed. ha!
Grabbing Sprinkles Cupcakes for breakfast before heading to the airport.
California, you were good to us. Your beautiful beaches, bright sunshine, and friendly faces have us contemplating any and every reason to get back… and soon!
So much fun! I have a california vacation planned this summer and I can not wait. Especially after seeing yours! Glad you had fun!
Oooh ooh ooh! Have SO much fun, Katie! Pack me in your suitcase too?!
These pictures make my heart happy 🙂
So many smiles from you and your beautiful family 🙂
Looks like you ate like royalty! This min-getaway looks like a true joy!
Love,
Morgme
P.S. Where are those adorable floral pants from?
Oh the glorious food… what I’d do for another ice-cream sammy right about now! The leggings are from Target
Fun!!!
The happiest thing in the world is to have fun with your family!!!
The best for you and family :D!!!
WOW – looks like you had a fantastic time!
Big hug all the way from from Cape Town, South Africa xxxx
Big HUG right back! mwah!
You are a fun family!
Wouldn’t have it any other way… my family are my best friends.
Oh my goodness! This looks like such a wonderful trip! Such a beautiful family and your photos are awesome!
Love all the pictures! Looks like you had a great time!! You have such a cute family..
Xo,
Sincerely Miss Ash
Looks amazing!! Question: Do you have a nikon? If so, which lens/lenses do you use?
Thanks!!!
Yes, I do; but will be selling it in the near future. These pictures were taken with another camera.
p.s. I have a nikon with the multi purpose lens it comes with and the 50mm but I’m thinking I need a zoom too!
I think the 50mm is a great lens! Works for just about everything!
Lovely pictures – gotta love Californ-i-a 🙂 Do you have any advice for flying with little ones? This mama is getting ready to fly from CA to AZ and I’m about to have a panic attack!
Lots of snacks, comfortable clothing (layers) easy for changing diapers, toys they haven’t seen (even simple $1 toys from the Target section) make great entertainment that you don’t worry about getting destroyed. An empty sippy cup from home for filling as many times as needed. Crayola magic coloring pages are good as well flashlights that have the interchangeable lids that shine animal silhouettes. Perfect when flying at night! Oh and if your little ones are old enough – a good ole lollipop is one of our go to’s on the last leg of the journey when everyone is more than “done”.
I love this pics!! Looked like y’all had fun. What nail polish are you wearing?
A trip we’ll never forget! Polish is Orly in Pure Porcelain (couldn’t live without it).
I’m also wanting to know where you got the floral pants and tops you wore with them from 🙂 thanks! Looks like a fun trip!
Leggings are from Target, denim shirt is HM, and blouse is Nordstrom (will be posting the link in an upcoming outfit post). Thanks, Kirstie! xo
aww what a great trip!! love all your pictures 🙂
did you bring a stroller with you to d-land for B? planning on taking my LO to D-land soon, he will be 17 months by then.. any good tips?
yes, we brought the trusty bugaboo and it was perfect. i was hesitant to bring it not knowing what we’d do with it on rides etc. we’re newbies at this… but there’s a place for “stroller parking” next to each ride. also, I’d recommend packing snacks. sure, you’ll want to get the iconic mickey ice-cream bar… but it’s nice to have some of your own goodies that don’t cost $15. we arrive mid afternoon and found that between 5-7 the park slowed down significantly. Everyone must’ve gotten hungry for dinner!
Loved all the photos! Who makes the adorable floral pants and the denim top that you were wearing in Malibu? What a perfect outfit!
Thank you, Julie! Floral leggings are Target and shirt is H&M. 🙂
Next time you come to Southern California we would be happy to give you some Orange County recommendations. We may be biast but the beaches are great and lots of family fun to be had.
Oh how I’d LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE to visit Southern California. However, I’m afraid if we make another trip out we wouldn’t get back on the plane to come home! I fell in love. HARD!
I also would like to know which lens was used. I have a Nikon D60.
Is there a link to sign up to get emails of the newest posts?
Hi Alexandra! There’s an envelope above the search bar (upper right hand corner)… click there and a window will pop up asking for you to input your email. 🙂
So glad your family had fun in my home state, and I was just at Disneyland wishing everyone could bring their children here at least once. Come visit again soon.
-With Joy and Cali Sunshine
Thank you for the advice!! i will bring my stroller in tow!! and snacks!! Just good to know what others parents did that was successful!
We just moved away from Southern Cal and your post makes me miss it! Where did you get Beckam’s adorable striped pants and your cute peach sweatshirt in the Ferris wheel picture? Thanks so much!
Beckam’s leggings are HM and my hoodie is at Target right now (even though it says it’s not sold in stores). Buy online here – http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-supply-co-juniors-kangaroo-pocket-tunic-hoodie-assorted-colors/-/A-14329589#prodSlot=medium_1_11&term=mossimo+sweatshirt
Sounds like you had a great trip! We live in LA right now, so all those places look very familiar :). Next time you come, you must, must go to Sweet Rose Creamery for the most delicious ice cream you have ever had. I’d recommend the Salted Carmel, and the Chocolate. Also Huckleberry Cafe in Santa Monica is all around Amazing!
Guess we’ll just have to come back – in the name of ice-cream! Nummmm.
Can you please give me a “dumb down” tutorial of how you took your pics. I have a Canon EOS rebel and want my pics to look as great as yours!
I’m hosting a photog class for beginners (since that’s basically what I am too! ha!) You can see details of how to sign up here – http://www.pinkpistachio.com/blog-dialogue/
Looks like a great vacation! What a beautiful family! I was actually wondering where that adorable, comfy looking, pink shirt is from in the pic with your baby in front of all the lights?
It is SO comfy and oversized. You can find it here – http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-supply-co-juniors-kangaroo-pocket-tunic-hoodie-assorted-colors/-/A-14329589#prodSlot=medium_1_11&term=mossimo+sweatshirt
Love everything about this post!! Looks like so much fun! What kind of camera and lens do you use?
Hi Mindy! Thank you SO much! I’ll be talking photog in an upcoming conference call. I’d love for you to join us!

you seriously have the cutest family! 🙂
you’re so sweet! i think our boys help us out 😉
Love, love, love your special moments captured on your camera. As someone who is new to the DSLR Cameras, I often wonder how people carry a larger camera around and still enjoy the moment. I would love to hear your tips and tricks!
I tow mine around in my purse covered in a soft shoe bag. Husby wears it around his neck too (he worries less about looks) haha!!
Wow! I emailed you a while ago (I’m the one from Greeley/Fort Collins) and moved to LA a year ago and you have basically crammed everything I’ve wanted to do since living here into one weekend! LUCKY!
I just went to Diddy Reise for the first time last week! Holy moly!
Anyways, looks like you had an awesome time! 🙂
Meep! Hi old friend! Find a way to ship me one?! PLEASE!? And you think I’m being sarcastic…
I love those sunglasses! You are uber cute as always… Could you please share the brand or where you found the gems?
They’re so old… as in almost 4 years embarrassing. Bought them at a hair salon in Salt Lake City Utah.
Looks like you and your family had an amazing time on your trip! Where did you get the pink sweatshirt you’re wearing in the picture on the teacups? so cute!
Thanks, Martha! You can find it here – http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-supply-co-juniors-kangaroo-pocket-tunic-hoodie-assorted-colors/-/A-14329589#prodSlot=medium_1_11&term=mossimo+sweatshirt
As always, love love you and your family and these presh photos! Looks like you guys had a fantastic time. You look great, as always. How tall are you Missy? <3
You’re funny! I’m 5’6 (i think…)
Looks like it was a great trip! Where did you get your youngest son’s jeans? Im always looking for tighter pants to fit my skinny little guys 🙂
Gotta love the baby girls section at Target. Shhh… it’s our little secret he wears girls jeggings! ha!
Never riden on a Ferris Wheel?? Still am surprised the things I take for granted that everyone has done LOL.
Your vacation looks like a wonderful time!! Thanks so much for sharing. We just had a baby boy and I love your youngest’s cute outfits. I see in other comments here you got some of his clothes at H&M and Target; anywhere else you can suggest for finding nice boy clothes? I’m so used to just shopping the girls section for our little two year old girl!!
glad you hit up so many of the places i suggested! WOOHOO! california treated you well. hope your conference thingy was good too!
So so so pretty! My favorite part of Cali was Malibu. You take the prettiest pictures and your fam is just adorable. Especially the Mickey picture with a scared baby! He will love looking back on these in the future.
When I lived in Austin, TX I saw Matthew McConaughey jogging on Town Lake. My mom and I were in shock…he was shirtless and somehow looked even better in person! We often joke about how slack-jawed we were on the trail and how we wish we were joggers!
[…] Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was Gage’s favorite ride. Still talks about the first time at Disneyland. Beck’s memories will most likely involve starring at the bottom of the cup getting […]
