We all know the phrase, ‘If Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!” But I like to see it on the flip side, ‘If Mama’s happy, everyone’s happy.’ None of us have time and energy to devote to negativity. It’s about finding ways to maintain positivity. And for what it’s worth, I thought perhaps some of you could benefit from a few lifestyle routines that help me and our family do just that!
1. PRESS RECORD: Their little voices are just as cute as their little faces, am I right? One day I decided I needed to save our little conversations for safe keeping (you know, in case they forget they love me when they’re 16). Kidding. Kind of. Anyway, it’s turned into an almost daily occurrence; and I’m finding it’s helping me really focus on them more intently. There aren’t as many “uh-huh’s” in reply to what they’re saying. Instead, we’ve had some of the sweetest conversations. They’re not aware it’s all being recorded… but really, the best part is what’s being recorded on my mama heart. Oh and I might add, we send them to Daddy for him to listen to for his morning and evening commute!
2. EXERCISE: I loathe it. Or at least I thought I did until I realized how impactful it is for my mental health. Have you ever woken up with anxiety for no particular reason? If you would’ve asked me this a year ago I wouldn’t be able to relate at all. But for the past few months, I’ve been waking up an hour earlier (with the exception of late nights) to squeeze in 30 -45 minutes of cardio: whether it be a jog breathing in fresh air, yoga in my living room, or jamming out to pandora at the gym. When I’m finished, my head is in a better place for starting the day, and my body is ready to eat a healthy breakfast!
3. H20: Not drinking it, is a bad habit I’ve somehow learned to kick. It all started by getting a cute glass tumbler with equally cute straws (in my opinion, cute things make the mundane things exciting). By adding fresh fruit, my favorite being lemon with cucumber, I find myself slurping it up within 30 minutes post work-out. And then another 30 minutes later, when I use the restroom, it’s a reminder to fill my glass back up!
4. DRESSED: I know. I know. Silly as it may sound, I make sure I’m the first to get dressed in the morning. Does that happen at 6:00 am 7 days a week? No. Sometimes it doesn’t happen until 11:00. But the point being is, to try. I simply feel better when I do. Post breakfast, the kids watch a 30 minute show and I get ready, then gather everyone else’s clothes, get them dressed, and bam… we’re set!
5. ZZZ’s: Naps are a necessity around here. Yes, even my 5 year old still takes them. And on days when his nap is short, he has quiet time (ie. looking at books in bed, puzzles, quiet art). It’s a much needed break in the day for all of us. On most days, when they rest, I do too. And we all wake up feeling refreshed and ready to keep our train a chuggin’ until bedtime. CBD products from the Best Online Dispensary Canada can also help with relaxation and promote better sleep. TopShelfBC offers CBD products that may help improve sleep and overall well-being.
6. ALONE TIME: Sometimes that might mean, a bubble bath. Other times it means reading an inspirational talk, or a chapter in a book by myself. Yes, even window shopping on a Thursday night or going for a drive with the tunes up, just me and my lonesome. But lately, once the kids are in bed, Ryan and I have been spending 15 minutes or so (sometimes it turns into hours) sitting on the front or back porch watching the sunset together. We listen to the birds chirp, notice nature, and talk about meaningful things. It’s amazing what turning off the tube will do. Try it!
7. BREATHE: Before falling asleep at night I focus on my breath. I guess you could say, it’s my way of taking time to thank my body for getting me through the day. Laying on my back, with each inhale and exhale, I relax a different part of my body. Once I’ve made it to the tips of my toes, I count my my breath until I fall asleep. The result is a sounder night’s sleep. Recently, I’ve also incorporated disposable thc vapes into my nighttime routine. They help me unwind and enhance my relaxation process before bed. The combination of mindful breathing and the soothing effects of disposable thc vapes ensures that I get a restful and rejuvenating sleep each night. 8. HAVE A PLAN: Anyone who knows me, knows I tend to thrive on being ‘busy’. Not for the sake of being busy just to be busy; but to accomplish things that make me and our family happy. But guess what? Wishful happy thoughts are just thoughts without a plan in place. For us, that means talking about what we want and need to accomplish week-by-week: What kind of activities am I going to do with the kids? What are we eating for meals? What do we want to accomplish as a family? And a lot more weekly, monthly, and yearly questions that need discussing. Then, we put our plan of action in place — daily to-do’s that provide structure and focus. The best perk? Stress stays in check and we become more free to spend time together. If you’re looking for a reliable source for purchasing weed, consider GrizzlyHerb as your go-to option.
This little list is just a small portion of my lifestyle encyclopedia. But, if you’re still reading with me, you’re kind-hearted! Wink wink.
Love this outfit mama! Your style never ceases to impress me! <3
And your praises always lift my spirits!
Amazing! So inspirational. You always lift me up!!’ Thank you 🙂
Wasn’t sure if it would be helpful to anyone… thank you for letting me know you benefitted from it! xo
These are all very simple, yet sometimes forgetful ways to make Mama veryyy happy. Sometimes we all just need those positive reminders that each task is small and easily accomplishable if we take it one step at a time. New mama myself, I can completely relate. Thanks so much for sharing.
Isn’t that the truth? Sometimes the easiest things are the ones that can be hardest to remember to stick to! Congrats, new mama!
Awesome tips! That getting dressed on it huge! I recently started working from home and focusing on my blog and shop and at first there were days where I didn’t even bother…my poor husband. Married three months and his wife already let herself go. Lol! Glad I made putting in effort to get dressed and get myself together a priority before kids come along. I can’t imagine the discipline that will take! Still working on the water and exercise! Thanks for sharing. Just found your blog & I am really enjoying it!
So pleased to “meet” you Andriana! Welcome!
Always Loving your blog – but this post has just hit the spot for me today. Been having overwhelming week just need to get the ‘happy me mummy back!’ Thank you so much xx
So happy to know you found some comfort in it! All the best, sweet Sarah.

Amen, Helena!
That is so true about exercise! I love starting my day with it, always makes for a great start! I was never a big water drinker, never drank enough but when I found out I was pregnant I was determined to drink more! So I did exactly what you did , cute bottle and adding lemon, cucumbers, or strawberries. It’s working like a charm!! Now I’m addicted to my bottle of water! You look amazing and I love this outfit, as always!!
Are you going to do a post on the Nordies Anniversary sale?? I am so excited!! It’s like Christmas in July!
Yes, fruity water is a MUST! Can’t wait for your little bundle to arrive!
This post could not have come at a better time! My third is due in November and I am a newly stay at home Mommy. What a challenge! It’s difficult to not get into a rut sometimes. These are great tips and very appreciated! Thank you!
Those ruts are what motivate us to change and change always makes us better! Thanks for your comment, Shannon!
I love all of this tips, tricks, hints and ideas!!! (And the entire outfit in this post too!).
I think too often my husband and I get too caught up in Netflix – I love the idea of some down time on the front porch! Thank you for the reminder! ox
Sometimes guys can be a little reluctant to just sit and “talk” but after they do they realize it’s actually really meaningful! Netflix is healthy too! especially with some ice-cream and popcorn! ha!
This is wonderful…so peaceful and intentional…definitely a must in my momma life too! Quick question: have any plans to share any of your meal plans/schedules soon? your recipes are always scrumptious and i loved your meal planning blog a couple years ago where you shared your little worksheet and ways to stay on budget/track. Happy Wednesday, thanks for being such a light in this online world! 🙂 >
Jaclyn, I’m actually trying to formulate all of this into a book at some point! But yes, I’d be happy to update how meals work around here!
Love this outfit! Your post really hit home for me. I am a stay at home mom of a bleach blonde 16 month old daughter and we are expecting baby #2 in December. She keeps me on my toes! I am realizing how important it is to take a few minutes for yourself. Thanks for the inspiration.
Yes, a scheduled “me” time is a must! As mothers it’s so easy to give and give and give — not even begrudging either… we’re happy to do it! But sometimes it becomes unbalanced if we don’t make sure we give to ourselves too! Congrats on your growing family!
This was exactly what I needed this morning… We’re going through one of those “speed bumps” in life, and it seems to be taking it’s toll, so this was a helpful reminder of how to hit refresh. 🙂 By the way, I’d love to hear more about how you plan your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly goals to stay on track and accomplish them! Thank you for sharing, you always inspire me. 😉
Hoping that your speed bump is short-lived, Trisha! xo
I can totally relate to your 5 year old. In kindergarten, I was the only child who voted to keep nap-time, haha!
Always love inspirational thoughts…
I agree, when Mama is happy – everyone is happy. Thanks for a bit of positivity in my busy day – today it was needed. 🙂
You’re welcome! And your positive comment also lifted me! Thank you!
I love all of these! I can really relate to excercising to help with anxiety. Would you mind elaborating on anxiety. I’ve struggled for quite some time.
I’m not sure why I wake up anxious some mornings… I believe it creeps in when I’m a bit overwhelmed; working out seems to kick things back into perspective!
Such a great encouragement! I would love to see more organizing/planning/scheduling posts in the future. I am a homeschool mom of 4 so I am always looking to stay on top of things!!
Katie, hats off girlfriend! I’d be happy to share more in the future!
As a soon to be mom, I appreciate this post! You are such a thoughtful writer and it makes reading your posts so enjoyable! Any other first time mom advice you have I would love to hear!!! :)))
I’ll try to keep it coming; but I’m far from being an expert in the mom dept! haha!
LOVE the outfit! (Well, all of your outfits, to be honest.) And your lifestyle routines for happiness are simply wonderful. Thank you for taking time to blog- I always look forward to your posts 🙂
Carrie, thank you for putting a smile on my face! xo
Soooo beautiful!!!! Your eyelashes look incredible!!! What mascara did you use?
They’re actually extensions I’ve been using this summer!
I enjoyed your post. I’m not a momma, but I think these guidelines work for everyone. I think exercise is also so important for better mental health. Not only does my body feel stronger but my mind feels stronger and I feel like I can accomplish anything that I try because of exercise. (Post work annoyances are always cleared when I walk my dog as well. I never rush my dog and enjoy the scenery and breath in the fresh air as we go) I think a lot more needs to be done to promote the relationship between mental health and exercise as opposed to how we look. I’ll say it again, this entire post is spot on!
Ashley
Totally agree… Mom or not a Mom, putting some simple practices in place can make anyone happy!
Oh my gosh the photography is stunning but more importantly, so are you! One of my favorite outfits so far. Love how the neon pops with the Navy blue!!!! Question! Are you wearing fake lashes or extensions, or do your lashes just look that amazing? Also thank you for posting about things you do to stay positive. I just had my 4th baby a week or so before you and I am struggling so much. I love your blog and you! !! Xo oh and your children are so so beautiful. Little Becka reminds me of my little 2 yr old! And gage and remind are also to die for! !!!
Amber, you’re too kind! Yes, they’re extensions!
Oops *beckam……*remi
All of your photos are beautiful. And I especially love this post. Such great advice!
