To be their mother, I’ve learned the meaning of hugs and kisses: to love willingly without condition, to forgive easily, and to love wholly. To be their mother is to delight in their innocent giggles. To be their mother, I value my voice in song — singing words about Jesus that lull them to sleep. To be their mother is to wipe tears and kiss ouchies all better. To be their mother, I know excited smiles are found in chocolate frosted donuts (with sprinkles), afternoon walks collecting rocks, car rides with the music up and windows down, and playing chase in the backyard. To be their mother, my flaws have been exposed, mistakes have been made, and they’ve taught me just as much (if not more) than I’ll ever teach them. To be their mother, I realize I’m only as happy as my least happy child — for their happiness is also my own.
To be their mother is all of these things and more. But one thing’s for certain. To be their mother is the greatest gift life has to offer.
And a few cute things the boys are saying about sister — pictures taken 4/4/15:
“GET. THE. BINKIE!!!” (they both run to the nursery to save the day anytime she cries.)
“I like when her eyes go like this…” (models opening his eyes wide and blinking slow) – B
“Her toes are tiny. Tic-tacs are tiny too.” – B
“She eat too much milk. She like donuts, you think?” – B
“How come we got a girl baby? Do boy babies cry?” – G
“Flowers make her heart happy.” (puts a dandelion in her bassinet) – G
“Do baby birds feel like Remi’s head?” – G
“Her nose is super cute. And her chubby cheeks! And when her mouth goes like this…” (squeezes them so her mouth puckers) – G
“Can I hold her while you put on your makeups? She likes it when I tell her secrets.” – G
“Mama, you should paint her toes all the days. That’s what girls do!” – G
