It’s been years since our last visit to Rocky Mountain National Park and our first time taking the boys. Let me tell you, breathing in Colorado air makes me whole again – there’s no place like home!
We started our little adventure taking back roads into the park, with a pitstop through Glen Haven to grab goodies for picnicking. Made to order sandwiches (on homemade bread), cherry cobbler, and lots of other munchies had us packed and ready to go!
Once in the park, we drove and drove and drove some more — enjoying every twist and turn. With all of our tummies growling, we pulled off in search of the perfect picnic spot.
A short hike later and we were there! I can’t imagine we’ll ever be in a more beautiful place eating lunch together — might even earn the title, ‘The Picnics of All Picnics!’
With Beckam conked-out in the car, Gage and I took turns tossing cheerios to the cutest little chipmunks!
tee – h&m, cardigan – nordstrom (similar), pants – zara (old), boots – joe’s

aww what beautiful pictures! and what a great way to spend time with your family!! xoxo
How fun! Mountain drives are my favorite, especially as the leaves start to change and the air becomes more crisp.
Can I ask for your outfit details? Specifically your boots? So cute!
Very beautiful, what a lovely family time to share!
These pictures are amazing!! So pretty…
You have a beautiful family. I’m So Glad you were able to make it out and enjoy the beauty before the floods have damaged so much of the area! It will be months-years before the area recovers from this past week.
Ok, this post makes me really sad because a lot of what is pictured here is GONE! Glen Haven, Indian Village, pretty much everything up the canyon to Estes. I’m glad that you were able to see it all before the flood, and I was able to visit about a month ago as well. We haven’t had as much damage in Greeley, but are living without waste water and sewer for at least the next 10 days. Such devastation in our state and it is just heartbreaking!
Your state is in my thoughts and prayers…I’m so sorry for what you’ve been going through. It’s hard for me to imagine that the beautiful pictures from this post are no longer there…
It is truly devastating in our state right now. I live in Fort Collins, but am staying in Longmont at the moment and it seriously looks like a war zone from all the water. Hopefully one day our beautiful state will get back to looking like this! I hope you are staying safe Susanna. At least in Colorado, when tragedy strikes, everyone truly comes together to take care of one another.
such beautiful photos!! It makes me miss the wilderness — being from PA we have a lot of beautiful mountains there too! you’re family is beautiful Missy! xo

Beautiful photos! Estes Park has been my family’s summer vacation spot for my entire life, and we always make sure to stop at Glen Haven General Store for their a-maz-ing cinnamon rolls! It’s nice to see this area captured in all its beauty in light of the recent devastation. Thanks for sharing!
Another Colorado girl here–these pictures are gorgeous and make me so sad about everything that has happened here in my home state! My husband used to spend a lot of time in Estes growing up, since his grandma has a cabin along the Big Thompson–he was pretty upset that the Indian Village is gone! Fortunately where we are at, south of Denver, is fine.
Do you use a specific program to edit your photos? They are beautiful!
This is seriously the cutest blog post I have ever seen. Love it!
What fantastic pictures and such joy in your faces. Thank you for sharing!
A year ago we were all together in Charlotte for Maggie and Leo’s wedding! We need a reunion! Miss you Sweet Melissa!!! <3 XO's to you all!!!
